Ruta graveolens
Rue

Rutacea

It has been described often as a 'handsome plant' and I agree fully with this tag.
It is a loose shrubby perennial with beautiful blue-green round lobed leaves that usually grows to 70cm in height but I have seen some as high as 180cm in sub tropical environments.

It usually begins to flower in it's second year but that does depend on the quantity of sunlight it gets.

Our are in full sun, all day and seem to love it.

Rue Herb

Herb of Grace

The Powerful, bitter oil from the plant is toxic and abortive and it really is an herb that needs to be treated with respect.

Our use of the plant is almost exclusively homeopathic, with the only deviation being as a useful disinfectant as well as an addition to an insect repellent tea for the garden.
