Viola tricolor
Heartsease
Violacea
These stemless perennials need no introduction as they tend
to live by their common name of 'Johnny Jump-ups' and appear
where you would least expect them.
Until, of course, one winter's
day when they are not to be seen. The main reason we collect
the seed is because occasionally they do not appear and a
garden is much reduced by their absence.
As a medicine, they help clear
catarrh, reduce inflammation and following their other common
name, tone the blood vessels.
