Viola odorata Violet
Description is hardly necessary as this gorgeous little
ground cover is well known and well documented.
It grows
well and actively from seed and once established will
happily spread by root runner and self seeding to create an
effective and beautiful companion in the garden, keeping the
moisture in and the roots of many other plants cool and
happy.
Packet of 25+ seeds $3.50

The flowers are collected during spring and can be added to
your salad.
The slight laxative effect can be beneficial.
Probably because of the presence of Salicylic acid in the
leaves and flowers, it makes a great 'calming' herb,
relieving throat complaints as well.
Homoeopathically, it
is great for spasmodic coughs as well as rheumatism of the
wrists. |
