ANGLED LUFFA/ Okra Vine, Okra Cee Gwa | Luffa acutangula

Flowering plants

Angled Luffa is one of natures 'fast foods. It is a vigorous annual vine that we like to grow on our fences as it does need some support.

The young fruits are better in flavour to zucchini and just a little sweeter.

It is good to grow in humid climates, as a replacement for zucchini as it does not suffer many fungal problems.
You can steam the young leaves and flower buds as you would any other vegetable and the seeds from mature fruit can roasted.

They do best in a friable soil and prefer full sun, which is why they are perfect for fences.
Two or three plants will provide enough fruit for a couple for the season.
