Borago officinalis
BORAGE - STAR FLOWER
Boraginaceae
This oval leaved
annual is a lovely filler in the garden with it's hairy
stems and leaves that smell like cucumber when crushed.
Borage germinates freely
and easily and will self seed very happily for years once it
has flowered.
It likes to be watered and looks sad if
allowed to get too dry but will pick back up quite quickly
after a watering.
Borage is a favourite of bees and will attract them from
miles around.
Packet of 30 seeds $3.50

The leaves of Borage, which should be consumed in moderation, are a
great 'pick me up'. We use the oil from the
seed though, as it's greatest prize, relieving the
discomfort of irritable
bowel syndrome, high blood pressure and hangovers.
It's well worth the squatting in the garden collecting them.
