CAPE GOOSEBERRY

               Solanaceae

A curious little solanaceae this one.

Cape Gooseberry only grows to around 80cm and, although it has woody stems its leaves are extremely tender and sensitive.

As only the fruit is used, there is only one harvest a year but as a fluid retention and kidney treatment, it is one of the best tasting remedies around.

Cape Gooseberry will grow throughout most of Australia and the seed strikes quickly and it grows strongly during winter and then bursts into flower and then fruit in late spring.

30 seeds $3.50

Cape Gooseberry makes a wonderful preserve or jam, thus extending the use of the food far into the year.
