COLTSFOOT       Coughwort    |       Tussilago farfara            Asteraceae

In Flower

It exists as a low groundcover and spreads itself very efficiently using it's creeping scaly rhizome. Coltsfoot leaves can be eaten and are high in zinc, but we use it predominantly for it's catarrh relieving properties.

We have used the dried leaves as a smoke to stop an asthma attack but we find that it works as well, if not as quickly as tincture.

It has been declared a weed in some states, so it is best to check first.
