Dan shen | Red rooted Sage
Salvia miltiorrhiza

 Labiatae

We have only been growing this herb for a little while but have been using the dried herb for many years.
Dan shen
(not to be confused with Dang shen / Codonopsis pilosula) is a beautiful, small, perennial shrub, growing to about 60 cm in height and making a delightful border plant.

It flowers in Spring and is quite winter resistant, making the garden look 'alive' during the cold months.

The seed is very viable and germinates at most times of the year.
