Dichondra is not strictly a medicinal herb yet, but it is being used experimentally in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It's status as a native groundcover is so very helpful to the Australian gardener though, as it thrives where most grasses will not. Quite drought tolerant, Dichondra will grow well in full sun and does quite OK in the shade where it grows taller and less dense.

 

As a lawn substitute, you will never need to mow and it takes quite a lot of traffic in full sun.

Not to be confused with Gotu Kola, (the  similarity is tenuous at best) it should not be consumed or used medicinally until it has been fully verified.
