Cissus antartica     |     Kangaroo Vine, Native Grape                Vitaceae

In Flower

Cissus antarrtica is a vigorous climber that will support itself nicely if given something to climb on but will hang quite nicely in a basket or pot if that suits your need better.

It bears small flowers and edible fruits.

It is an understorey plant that is most commonly used as an indoor foliage plant as it requires little in the way of direct sunlight.

Native grapes from the Kangaroo vine are edible but there is little or no research into the nutritional benifits of the plant, so that element remains unclear.

They do have a grape-like taste but are best eaten in moderation.

Native grape jam is highly distinctive in flavour.
